The Arctic has Returned
The AC seems fixed. No issues...so far. And for half of the original estimate. We've got a real arctic frost going here. We remain vigilant. Credit where it's due to Gold Medal Service. The extremely competent technician advised/warned multiple times that this system is ten years old and they're built to last 10-15 years. The average price of a new HVAC system is like $13550. Kek help us.
Related: the heat wave has broken, with highs of about 85. That's a Billy 85 not a Johnnie 85, so it won't be too bad. The temps look to be cool this weekend, more so as we'll sojourn to the Stroock Northern Strategic Direction tomorrow. There this weekend nighttime temps will dip into the 50s. Welcome to the Berkshires.
What the hell is going on in the kitchen I....good kitty! Get the mousy! Get the mousy!
Sydney Sweeney, because why not? We discovered her in this Rolling Stones video. My word. Sexy, fun, flirty. The song is awesome too, so are the animated billboards. If we could just get a copy of War Night into her hands. Other than that we haven't seen Sweeney in a single TV show or movie. She'll fade in a few years and then come back in the late 2030s with some serious acting chops.
A friend sent this along from Hot Air: 'Starmer Opens Possibility of Prosecuting Veterans Who Served During the Northern Irish Troubles.' Don't fool yourselves. This is going to happen. Britain is ruled by an elite that actively hates Britian. What better way to signal that hate than by prosecuting soldiers?
New Jersey, via the Hill, a more realistic outlook on the gubernatorial race: 'Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-N.J.) leads Republican Jack Ciattarelli by 8 points in New Jersey’s gubernatorial race in one of the first independent polls of the general election. The Fairleigh Dickinson University poll released on Tuesday showed Sherrill leading with 45 percent support to Ciattarelli’s 37 percent, with 16 percent of survey respondents undecided.' Yeah Sherrill with a 20 point lead was always a fantastic outlier. Signs are popping up, slowly. But it's summer in New Jersey. Everyone is down the shore and no one is thinking about November. The smart money's on Sherrill, but Ciattarelli has the advantage of name recognition and running against a party that's already served two terms in Trenton. It's hard to win three in a row. There's lots of undecideds too.
GOP states are threatening to redistrict and gerrymander in the GOP's favor. Good. Dems are apoplectic of course, as they've already gerrymandered the heck out of CA, IL, MA, etc etc. Double plus good. You know, after the 2012 Romney debacle, we remarked to a friend that it would be nice if the GOP could figure out the next political thing before Dems do. Didn't happen in 2016 or 2020 (see ballot harvesting). But it looks like the GOP has finally gotten ahead of the Dems. Screw them. Is triple plus good a thing?
DOGE report. Okay so we wrote the Ortega/Castro reaction scene we said we didn't want to write. It works just fine and sets the stage for what we want to do. We're envisioning Castro as a less gay Yasser Arafat, moving into the host country and trying to muscle in on the leadership, like a parasite.
