Good Sunday morning Stroock's Books readers, such as they are, and everyone else.
Oh! And Happy Father's Day.
So we attended the girl's dance recital yesterday. This was the last recital for Oldest Daughter. The Stroocklettes had their own dance trio to commemorate. We admit to getting a little emotional, and not in the ironic Stroock's Books kinda way either. It's gonna be that kind of week. Oldest Daughter's high school graduation is Thursday.
So we didn't get to see the Army parade yesterday. We've seen some clips, and the retro uniforms are sooooo cool. Bravo to the planners. Great PR and recruitment too. It's USA Army week all week here at Stroock's Books, in which we share some thoughts, random and otherwise about the history of the US Army. To start, here's a list we did of the USA's top generals.
Related, an old article we wrote about another great army parade, the Grand Review of 1865.
There it is. The Israelis can't stop all the Iranian missiles from getting through. Last night an Iranian barrage hit Tel Aviv and killed 10 people. Where are all the fancy laser systems we were promised?
Meanwhile the Israeli Air Force is hunting down missile launchers and storage facilities, bombing nuclear sites, weapons factories and now oil/gas refineries. Iran's assets dwindle. The Israelis are serious. This is it. This is the existential conflict.
As we write this, the Israelis are hitting targets across Iran. Keep bombing.
Will's Good Idea for the Week of 6/15/25...We may concentrate solely on World War 1990: The Managua Campaign this week. We're sick of thinking about the Irish and their intractable Troubles.
